Forever in Our Hearts

"About five years ago Pam was speaking into my life and she gave me a mortar and pestle that she had fallen in love with and bought in England years before. I was so touched that she would part with it for starters. However, she didn't just plunk the gift into my hands, she sat in front of me holding my hands and said, 'this is a tool, meant for grinding, pounding, crushing and beating... it takes beautiful herbs and special ingredients, preparing them to be placed in the final mixture. Father God allows the crushing, not to harm you, but it is His way of drawing you actually closer to Himself, to be made more like Him and be more useful for His purposes and final plan.' We had just been walking through the first months of our son Hudson's leukemia and asking 'what is the purpose of this Lord?'
Pam did not share what she was not willing to put into practice. She understood pain, fear, the unknown and crushing... She also had a much longer and more difficult road to walk than I and has walked it with grace and beauty. She was not only lovely on the outside, the character and spirit of Pam was radiant. She was a faithful example, a joyful worshipper and a testimony of consistent love. It was an honor to know you Pam. We are praying for you, Jim, and holding you close."
